20 Feb How to Assess Photo Booth Technology
The success or failure of having a photo booth at your event will depend on a lot of factors. The theme you choose, the kind of photo booth you hire, the space inside or how many people it can accommodate at a time, the backdrops or green screens, the lighting and the camera, the props and the editing software, everything will play a role. You need a reliable state of the art camera for impeccable photography. You need the right lighting conditions for great quality images. You need ample props to choose from and they should accentuate photos, not limit them in any way. There’s more to a photo booth than what its theme is and if it is inflatable or a kiosk.
Fortunately, you wouldn’t have to break a sweat to assess photo booth technology if you know what to focus on. Start with the camera. Do not opt for digital cameras, smart phones or those web cams hosted on some pop-up. You should always ensure you get a digital single lens reflex camera. Canon is the best DSLR you can have so you should prefer the brand over Nikon. It is true that Nikon is just as reliable a brand as Canon. The similar models of both brands will produce almost identical pictures. But Canon cameras have slightly better colour saturation than Nikon.
If you compare Canon EOS 600D to Nikon D5300, both have the same sensors and similar features. The images taken by Canon EOS 600D will have better colours than Nikon D5300. It is just how the brands are different from one another. Even if Nikon does deliver a higher mega pixel count, it wouldn’t have any visible difference. The mega pixel count is used mostly by smart phone or consumer electronics makers to market their products. The quality of a photograph depends on the CMOS Sensor, the focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO setting and external lighting conditions when using a DSLR.
That brings us to the second most important piece of photo booth technology, at least from the perspective of photography, lighting. The photo booth must have the kind of lighting you want. There could be focus lights, beams, spotlights, strips of LED lights, disco lights or any kind of lighting arrangement that you deem fit or you want in your photo booth. Light will play as important a role in the quality of photos and the larger album as the camera.
